This week’s theme was summer, which I had the hardest time coming up with. Eventually, I decided that bright, festive watermelon nails would make me think of summertime, even with the rainy weather we’ve been having.
I’ve been playing video games since I was a kid. My brother and I used to play Sonic the Hedgehog on his Sega Genesis for hours. That turned into a Nintendo 64 and Goldeneye, then a Playstation, which launched my love of the Final Fantasy series. I gained notoriety in my small corner of the internet while writing for Kingdom Hearts when I was thirteen. I’ve gotten a perfect game on Harvest Moon 64. And I met by best friend Jenn through a mutual love of Final Fantasy XII more than five years ago.
This week for the 52-Week Challenge, I pay homage to my gamer history with some truly ridiculous Final Fantasy VII nails, then get super verbose about how much I love nail polishes. You can check out Jenn’s less dorky Zelda nails here.
This week for the 52-Week Challenge, Jenn and I were inspired by the color red. As devout fans of both the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin and the HBO TV series, Game of Thrones, we knew exactly what was coming on Sunday. Her first attempt was positively grim – check them out here. My nails were a little simpler, because I also cooked a full Game of Thrones-inspired meal! Both can be found after the jump.
In the interest of catching up to my much more dedicated mani partner, Jenn, I will be posting a manicure every day! This week for the 52-Week Challenge, we switched the theme from Red to Glitter (so that our red manicures would coincide with *gasp* The Red Wedding on Game of Thrones). You can check out Jenn’s lovely glitter manicure here.
I have been a terrible, no-good, very bad blogger for the past month. I blame it on all the things that have happened – I graduated college, my brother got his PhD, we had two graduation parties, two baby showers for my sister-in-law, we moved them to Boston, and I started working full time. So.
This week’s challenge for the 52-Week Challenge was to create nails inspired by a song. At first, I had a hard time thinking of what to do, but after a search of iconic music video images – and then searching through my albums on iTunes – I found the perfect song to be inspired by – Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know.”
