This week’s challenge for the 52-Week Challenge was to create nails inspired by a song. At first, I had a hard time thinking of what to do, but after a search of iconic music video images – and then searching through my albums on iTunes – I found the perfect song to be inspired by – Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know.”
I thought this would be really simple, but it took a long time to do each individual swatch of color. I used an assortment of colors and loaded them on with a thin brush.
Pro-tip: I put pure acetone in a bowl so that I could more easily clean off my brush between applications. Unfortunately, I didn’t think about how acetone would work with the plastic of the bowl. It burned right through. So, because I live in a tiny room and do my nails while sitting on my bed, the acetone melted red plastic into my sheet, my mattress pad, and the mattress beneath. So never, ever put acetone in a plastic container. Ever. Luckily, I was already planning on throwing away these sheets in about another month.
Bonus picture of the butter LONDON display at my Ulta. It was all I could do not to buy them all, but I don’t think my credit card would have liked that.
