In the interest of catching up to my more-dedicated bff Jenn, I’ll be posting my manicures every day! This week for the 52-Week Challenge, the theme was floral. You can check out Jenn’s amazing nails here.
These nails were inspired by a guest post on Let Them Have Polish by Chalkboard Nails. Forgive me for the poor photography – these chipped because I’m awful the day after I painted, so the only pictures I had were from the night I painted them.
Basically, you’re painting white in small checks in a flower-like pattern. The messier, the better. Then, draw over that in the lighter color of your choice – my light blue here. If you’re messy in this stage, it’s even better, something I learned after a fortuitous surprise on my TV made me go outside the lines.
I used Julep’s Michelle as the base color, which is this amazing navy. It looks black in these pictures, but in the sunlight it was definitely blue. It would be perfect as a dramatic solid, and I imagine the first lady could totally rock it. I used my reliable Sally white for the petals, and layered over that my favorite, Essie’s Avenue Maintain. I’m going to need a new bottle of that if I continue to use it as often as I do!
Next up: glitter!
