Week 14: Summer

Week 14: Summer

This week’s theme was summer, which I had the hardest time coming up with. Eventually, I decided that bright, festive watermelon nails would make me think of summertime, even with the rainy weather we’ve been having.

I love that I used only creme polishes for this manicure.

You can find any number of watermelon nail example on Pinterest or by Googling it, but these were my own simple variation. I wanted something that wouldn’t be any trouble to remove after I had the worst time getting off a glitter polish.

I almost never get to use these greens, so I was happy to find a place for them!

I layered it on one by one – pink, white, light green – then added the extra detailing of the seeds and the rind.  It was surprisingly easy, especially since I wasn’t too concerned with making the nails perfect. I used the following colors for my nails:

  • Zoya Angelina
  • China Glaze Passion for Petals
  • China Glaze Tree Hugger
  • Color Club Cactus
  • Sally Hansen White-Out (I think this is the name – I’ve had this forever, but it’s a one-coat white!)
In case you're wondering, that bright blue wall is actually the wall of my office!

I’ve apparently gained a reputation at work for having crazy nails! The pressure is on – with everyone looking at my nails now, I can’t have a day where I have chipped polish!

Check out Jenn’s amazing summer nails here, and be sure to read the rest of her nail blog – she’s been doing some awesome stuff!

Next up: rainbow nails. I’ve already got that one done!
